The Guide To Trusting Yourself
This week I’ve been asked the same question in different forms:
“How can I be sure I have enough expertise”?
“How can I know my target market”?
“How can I be certain my offers will sell”?
The common denominator here is obvious, a lack of self-trust.
And as you search for all the above guarantees, you render yourself powerless and with even less self-trust.
Then you wonder why you feel so anxious and without clients.
Truth is the only guarantee in life is that there are no guarantees.
If you were to stop focusing on guarantees and being perfect from the very start , you’d actually find you make a start.
And it’s in deciding to start that you have a chance to build the trust.
Trouble is many smart women don’t start, they doubt their ideas and procrastinate on decisions, they need everything from business to finances to their body to be absolutely perfect now before they make a start.
It’s this focus on “getting it right” that keeps you from ever getting it done, and it’s the done that creates the results , the tangible evidence you’re searching for, the big guarantee you need to finally trust your “expert enough”, “perfect enough” or whatever.
I know only too well.
I too go through my own seasons of “perfection” .
Like recently when I just couldn’t find the perfect programme to launch.
Then came the wake up call that was needed to shift the perspective from “I don’t trust my ideas ” to the fast decision to just start with what I knew.
And in starting I got to travel to the USA and get paid to be there , now I get to sit in Paris before heading to Cannes , all the while working with clients in a way more enjoyable way.
And the truth remains that in waiting for perfect expertise or perfect clients you’re not able to access your purpose, wealth and desires.
When what you really need is to trust yourself and simply decide to start.
In starting with what you’ve got and where you’re at , you end up in the game, not star gazing at the big shots on the sidelines.
And the only difference between those “big shots” and you right now is that they stopped searching for guarantees and made the decision to trust and start.
It’s possible for you to do exactly the same, here’s the CityGirl Guide to getting you there.
The Guide To Self-Trust
1) Consider your repetitive ideas, log them and action them.
Too many of us have inspired visions and ideas one day and forget them the next.
Make a habit to carry pen and paper and actually log what you’re seeing or hearing. A cluttered mind is what you need to worry about not a cluttered desk, get those ideas done, notice any repititions and go take action to bring them to fruition.
2) Develop a trust building routine
Learning to trust yourself comes from taking action on the above and seeing results with those but the foundation of all trust starts in connecting to yourself regularly.
Try meditating in the mornings and then accessing your own answers asking:
“What would you have me do today”?
“How would you have me take action today”
“What is today /this week about for me”.
Note your answers and follow through, following through on your guidance will have you trust yourself way more than any therapy or coaching will.
3) Decide to get it done over getting it right
You simply need to make a start and take some action, waiting for perfect won’t work, just sit down and get it done, if you have trouble getting it done alone hire an expert or get someone to hold you accountable and to break the vision or idea down.
