5 Ways To Manage Your Busy City Life Today
“Will This Tire Me Or Will This Inspire Me” ? Wellness Warrior Kris Carr’s, CrazySexyLife Motto!
It’s so good to be back in Italy where the sun continues to shine and the sea is sparkling most of the time.
I’ve been in two fabulous cities in the last month and loved every minute of each, well except for Hurricane Bitch, ooops Sandy, who decided to join in my party!
One thing I noticed whilst trying to live “la dolce vita” abroad was how much harsher, faster and taxing City life can be.
At one recent point in my life I was Queen Bee CityGirl, I used to compete with myself to see for how many hours I could go per day, how much I could cram in , I’d do everything on foot carrying a handbag that weighed more than me at the time!
Life was fast & demanding to say the least.
I was simply caught up in the London vibration I was in at the time that demanded more and more.
Now I don’t want to go all woo woo or sound like your old GCSE Science Teacher here but each time I’m in a City I notice a change in my energy according to the environment and the primary vibration it most emits.
Hence my creation of the CityGirl Archetypes (More soon).
In Paris I was pretty laid back, rarely rushed and I took my time to sip lots of fine wine, very reminiscent of the pleasureful Parisian way.
But in NYC I turned into this ultra manic and impatient CityGirl, perhaps I was resonating with the speed and excitement of New Yorkers straight away?
I knew something was up though when I could barely wait for them to wrap my new Burberry Trench before I was running out the door shouting, “see ya” all over the West Village!
What was that all about…..? Shopping’s usually my slow time!
So, what I’ve learned, yet again, is that City living is wonderful but guess what Girls your environment impacts you on a very physical and emotional level every single day.
Makes sense as we always become what and who we surround ourselves with.
Back here in Italy I’m a lot more attuned to the slower pace of life after just a few days, that doesn’t mean I won’t be visiting another City anytime soon, but it’s quite healing to no recognise that this environment does not render me in the rush, push and strive mode.
This week my honey and myself are juicing, cooking with lots of fresh veggies and generally clearing out the last of the toxiCITY for a little while anyway.
Below are some ways to assist you in managing your busy City lifestyle as either a seasoned CityGirl or a visiting one, enjoy!
CityGirl Guide: 5 Ways To Manage Your Busy City Life Today
1) Prepare yourself Darling!
Entering any new environment can be daunting, so if you know you’ve got some hardcore City living coming up get yourself plenty of rest and fresh foods, (up the greens and lower the alcohol) in advance, it’ll build your stamina for the excitement and indulgence in the time ahead.
2) Create a slow morning routine.
How you start your day impacts you in a big way. The City is always alive and kicking so learn to be slow before you step out there. Sip your tea slowly, do your make-up mindfully, implement some much needed morning self-care.
3) Take a taxi.
Seriously do you need to be killing yourself running around on some stinky bus or metro all day? Safeguard your wellbeing and your Manonl Blahnik’s by hoping in a cab now and again .(The cheapest taxi’s in any City so far for me are in Rome)!
4) Dump the Tote Bag.
Tote bags are now for airplanes only, got it? Stop logging big bags of stuff around; lighten the load, ditch the 5 kilo make-up kit and whatever else is in there, your body will thank you for it.
5) Simplify your diary.
Make appointments all in one area and if possible all on the same day .Running across town everyday for a myriad of meetings or connections is one sure way to zap your CityGirl zest & render you an ineffective busy CityGirl and no more!
How do you cope with managing your busy City life in a nurturing & balanced way?
