The Guide To Successful Blogging
This week I met with my bogging mentor who was paid to fly from Australia to write about Puglia.
All I had was a blog in the early days and no idea how to use it.
Annabel helped me see the benefits to blogging from a business perspective, but marketing was lost on me back then, what I really desired after a whole year on the beach , was a way to creatively express myself and feel purposeful again, so we looked at that.
Fast forward little more than a year and it was to my great delight to find out that Annabel was finally coming to Puglia.
And it was to her great delight to discover that my desire to blog and be creative had transformed into a profitable business.
What we discovered over ample glasses of vino and great food in Locorotondo , Puglia, was that Julia Cameron had inspired us both to just get writing.
That marketing can be fun and feminine if you do it in a creative way like blogging.
I realized in speaking to Annabel again that had I never started blogging, I might not have created a successful and stylish business in such a short space of time.
And that’s the thing about blogging; you never know where it’s going to take you.
For Annabel it’s flying her globally around the world on free tickets to visit her favourite hotspots and for me it’s created a much more stylish way to share myself without the boring structures of masculine marketing.
Despite these successes though it’s still the sense of accomplishment and soar of confidence in doing something challenging on a regular basis that keeps us blogging.
So next time you’re tempted to avoid the page ,consider that blogging can be a means through which you market your services more stylishly and it can also give you a much needed confidence boost seeing your thoughts and ideas in print once and for all.
The Guide To Successful Blogging
That’s right you need to schedule your writing, if you wait until you feel inspired to write you’ll be waiting not writing.
Choose a day by which you must have completed your blog and make yourself accountable by mailing it to your list on the same day each week.
Affirming, not worrying, gets you going , so before writing say this repeatedly : “Today when I sit down to write I know exactly what I’m going to say, I’m totally clear on what my audience needs to hear.”
Always write a shaky first draft and leave it to marinate for a few days or hours.
Your first draft should be written without pausing to edit. Write until it’s done. You know you’re done when you’ve discovered something, learned something or suddenly just found the message you were looking for and now know what your writing about!
Coco Chanel made her fortune during the war so we can safely say that no matter what’s going on in the world you’ll get ahead in life if you present yourself stylishly!
Style it up by including attractive photos; using short sentences and helping your reader learn something as opposed to doing therapy on them through your writing. Check your word count , 500 or less is best and spell check it before publishing it.
I rarely know what I’m writing about until it’s done, unless I’ve chosen to write about a recurring problem in the marketplace.
Your title will come as you get clear on the message, the message can only be found through writing the blog. Yep no short-cuts,just write.
