CityGirl Guide: 5 Ways Career Women Can Avoid Burn-Out In Body & Business
“I’m basically a feminist, I believe women can do anything when they put their mind to it” Grace Kelly, Princess Of Monaco
I started this blog whilst flying over the Alps, en route back to Italy from London.
It’s truly amazing to see these snow capped mountain peaks, so beautifully formed, nature has a way of inspiring me to tap further into my vocational vision, remain still at times and to simply trust that despite the chaos in life all is happening exactly as it should be.
I’ve had a fantastic 10 days in London, it was great to be back where my CityGirl journey began.
Whilst in the City I managed to attend The Gift Of Womanhood Yoga retreat, with Guru Rattana.
I have to admit it was difficult learning to embrace my feminine essence, a year in Italy has certainly helped, but during the retreat it was evident that I still have an attachment to the masculine way of getting things done.
Many of the exercises shared on this wonderful weekend will be of benefit to me with my work on both myself and with clients.
I also Hosted a London CityGirl Gathering, this was a wonderful evening dedicated to inspiring the busy City woman and Entrepreneur to develop greater Self-Love & more Self-Care.
Many of us are making a virtue out of deprivation
One thing that struck me most amongst the female entrepreneurial community is how little investment and time women are giving to themselves and true Self-Care.
It seems many are so focused on developing their businesses and generating greater finances that the focus on self is not even on the list.
I have to admit that for years too I had no idea about the relationship between Self-Care & Self-Worth and the impact both have on one’s Prosperity & Vitality.
The “Miss Independent” in me certainly had ridged rules about who could assist me and I wasn’t even aware that she had to assist herself first before anyone or anything else she desired could enter her life!
Taking care of me first seemed like a luxury back then when I was too busy pounding the pavement in search of my true purpose and greater “success”.
Now I can’t imagine generating opportunities, income or business without simple Self-Care routines in place.
However, despite knowing the importance of “placing my own oxygen mask on first”, I seemed to so easily fall back into that rush and push energy which often led me to burn-out whilst living in the City.
I noticed how easy it was for me to :
- Fill up my diary and days with lots of meetings, work and pressure again.
- Overcommit myself to people and activities.
- Get caught in brain-noise & busyness.
- Forget that I could have an easier time physically by simply using taxis.
That’s the thing you see, we so easily forget when we are juggling a hundred demands, meetings and more.
Self-nurturing and sticking to a supportive morning routine can seem impossible at such times, but it’s when you are stressed or ultra busy that you need Self-Care even more!
So if you really want to avoid burn-out in body or business , you’ve got to prioritise your self-care FIRST.
The vitality of Your Wealth is dependent on the vitality of your Health.
Finally, I had the fortunate pleasure of attending a weekend with Gina Devee , Business and Lifestyle Mentor.
Gina is a true manifesting Queen, she’s inspired me to continue to tap into my potential & step into my power in a Feminine way.
Gina shared that :
“Your wealth is the average of the 5 people you surround yourself with“.
I’d like to suggest the same goes for your Health, as wealth and health are so energetically connected.
If you’d like to know more about growing your business and manifesting your dreams the Feminine Way (the easiest way!) here’s a link to Gina’s 6 Steps to The Feminine Art of Manifesting, Monday 17th Sept. The Feminine Art Of Manifesting- Free Call With Gina Devee.
Since leaving London , I’ve now moved into my dream beach home, taken the steps to create my next programme and I’m implementing greater Self-Care by delegating more of what I don’t want to do.
That means I’ve doubled my cleaner’s hours and I’m commiting to a massage at least once per week and getting someone else to grocery shop for me!
Well that’s one sure way to avoid the burn-out, right?!
What could you do today or this week , for yourself , to avoid burn-out in your body, business or current career?
Here are some of my ideas below.
Enjoy, Grace X
CityGirl Guide: 5 Ways To Avoid Burn-Out in Body & Business
Stick to your vocational vision , what most inspires you, why you started your business or went into this career in the first place and delegate the rest.
That may mean paying someone to do the elements of your job/life that you don’t want to do anymore but it will enable you to stick to your creative genius, safeguarding your vitality and finances in the longterm .
2) De-Clutter Your Diary.
Seriously do you need to be meeting all those people? Why not Skype/Email or simply say No.
Stop overcommitting yourself , choose to decline 3 invitations this week that are not lighting you up with excitement.
When you value your time the world will value it too, usually by paying for it!
3) Create a supportive morning routine.
How you start your day determines the rest of it.
I know it’s tough to push yourself to wake up earlier , (even harder in Italian heat believe me), especially if you’ve nothing inspiring to get up for, are stuck in a job you hate or have lost your vocational vision altogether.
Commit to some quiet time over a cup of coffee, equipped with a notebook where you can download all your brain noise about what’s going on for you, is the perfect way to start your day.
Give it a go by adding an extra 15 minutes in the morning just for you, see how this slower and consistent routine dictates the opportunities you receive in your day.
4) Find fulfilment on the inside.
You’ll stop eating so much, drinking so much and doing so much when you connect with your true vocational vision and awaken your creativity towards getting it done!
This is where your highest vitality, prosperity & inspiration resides.
Movement gets the flow of energy shifting in the body & mind.
Try some Kundalini yoga (it saved me from hitting the floor many times over as I hit burn-out during my London life) or simply walking, both exercises align the brain and enable greater clarity and vitality to come forward.
You could also try moving homes or moving jobs if you’re really burning-out in life, I did it all and it worked a treat.
