5 Ways To Inspire Your Work Through Travel
1) Choose locations that light you up.
Francesco and I discussed how we’d love to end our West Coast adventure, we’d been on the move for 10 days and were planning to finish up in LA but neither of us felt very excited about that, so, with the help of a good glass of Nappa Valley vino and a breathtaking view of San Fran Bay ,we tapped into our true desire and chose to fly to Vancouver .
Of course this was the ‘more expensive” option and meant an early start and two more flights to endure , but in choosing a place in line with our desire we were rewarded instantly .
For example the next evening:
a) A local paid for our meal at a top class restaurant, all because we offered him a seat, the price of the meal was the same as our flight to Vancouver, instant reimboursement!
B) I gained two opportunities to connect with entrepreneurs , share my message and do what I love whilst visiting his blessed City.
Action: Travel to places that speak to your heart , in doing so you’ll see the Universe come into support you despite the costs and where you go.
2) Practice Self-Care
Remember you’re still evoking your brand even if you’re on the move so be sure that you’re evoking the best of yourself, in style & business, to do so you’ll need to implement ample self-care, after all you can’t communicate your message and what you have to offer the locals if you’re exhausted.
Action: Stay in hotels that offer FREE fitness suites or SPA facilities, yoga classes or at the very least some greenery nearby, alternatively book a massage or two as you’re on the go and stick with your normal routine whether that’s morning pages or simply eating a good breakfast.
(I loved our stay in Carmel en route from Santa Barbara to San Fran, we had our own meditation garden there and our suite in Vancouver included use of the hot tub to start and end each day).
3) Make your travelling your marketing
Most entrepreneurs hate marketing and sadly some hate their lives even more , so they end up sounding bored and bland no matter what they’re trying to promote.
Travel inspires the mind and your target market , so forget the “I can’t afford it” mantra and prioritise your wealth and health by putting yourself in exciting places and marketing your service from there.
I had no idea that doing what I love (visiting great Cities, dining out & travel ) would lead to amazing opportunities, ample sales calls and interest from my audience.
Action: Stop trying to sell from your sofa and book yourself a trip to some exotic space that’s been calling you, you might think it’s a luxury but the truth is you can’t afford NOT to take that trip!
4) Book a shoot or something fun for your business
Nothing feels more more exciting for me than a camera capturing my experiences abroad and the shots evoking the essence of the CityGirl brand.
And before you think that’s too expensive remember that as a result of investing in yourself others will invest in your service usually at the same level!
Action: Choose to invest in something that will up-level your business whilst you’re abroad, whether it’s a photo shoot or an intensive with a coach , simply invest where you desire to as opposed to where you feel you “should” or “have to” just because others are doing it.
If it inspires you , you can be sure it’ll inspire your audience too .
5) Wine & Dine, big time.
More connections are made and business is done over breaking bread than anything else these days and during this journey we’ve had the pleasure of connecting with wonderful people and potential business partners and clients whilst dining out, or, at the very least , enjoying some champagne somewhere glam.
Action: Commit to expereincing the best dining your travel destination has to offer, it doesn’t need to be 5 star it simply needs to be good cuisine in a happening place.
I started this post in Vancouver’s luxury concept store, Secret Location surrounded by style & a taste of Milan and have finished up in the buzz of Carderos right down on Vancouver’s gorgeous waterfront , it’s an inspiring place to write with amazing views and great food, if you liked this blog you can thank these spaces!
