5 Ways To Get Unstuck From A Job Or Life You No Longer Like
The only guarantee in life is that there are no guarantees. Alan Weiss.
Sitting here on 3 hectares of land overlooking olive trees and hearing only the sound of birds chirping and bees buzzing feels so far removed from the crazy burnt-out City life I was once in.
Gone are the neighbours walking on the floorboards above us in our once cramped little London flat.
Gone is the guarantee that when we wake up in the morning we have a steady day job to go to with a regular monthly salary coming in.
All replaced by what feels like uncertainty at times yes , but still the greatest freedom and wellbeing you could ever have in life.
In fact I’ve found through my own career transformation , that when we search for certainty and guarantees in life , we’re rendering ourselves stuck.
What we’re really saying in this search is “I don’t trust ”.
“I don’t trust myself to create it”.
“I don’t trust I have what it takes”.
“I don’t trust I deserve to receive the money I’d love”.
Faced with the proverbial “cliff edge” to jump off in order to get the life, the clients or the job you really want , of course you’ll feel paralysed and lack self-trust.
How can you possibly make a shift when you’re dramatizing what needs to change, who needs to change and what really needs to happen just to get you to where you want to be?
It’s time to concern yourself with what you need to do , TRUST and who you need to be to create the vision and make tangible what you’d love.
Remember change is never about perfect circumstances and big guarantees , most of which you think you’ll get if you master plan or even worse , wait a little longer.
Real change is about becoming unstuck ,developing self-trust and receiving the support you deserve and need.
How To Get Un-Stuck From A Job or Life You No Longer Like
1) Choose creativity over logic.
Logic got you into the chaos and boredom you find yourself in.
Creativity is anything but logical and that’s why it’s going to help you get out.
Whatever you’d love is not going to be created by logically thinking of the “how” instead choose creative action this week: listen to an album , doodle at the same time, cook something, bake, draw, paint , dance and notice the insights that flow forward as you refresh yourself and spirit in a fun way.
You need to get creative now and see how your going to make work feel like play, not the other “logical” way around.
2) Stop vacillating.
Being indecisive creates stuck energy because the Universe and everyone else is confused about what you really want. How can others give you what you want if you can’t decide what that even is ?
Commit to sticking to your decisions this week, when in doubt always go with your first choice, usually your true desire, despite the cost! Waiting for the right time or enough money is your biggest block to transforming, get the support you need today.
3) Be honest with yourself and others.
It takes courage to admit you want to change and then ask for support in that but if you don’t communicate this clearly you’ll become resentful and start blaming your loved ones for why you’re still stuck.
Learn to share your desires in a caring way instead of in a careful way, (which would be you asking permission from them to do what you’d love instead of showing them how they will benefit from it ), you’re not asking permission here to have what you desire but asking them to join you (or not) in the most exciting and up-levelling phase of your life!
4)Choose delegation not overwhelm.
Masters delegate. You’ll remain stuck if you don’t delegate the uninspring stuff or even the “brain noise” to your coach or someone who can help you simplify and get through the stuck energy.
Look at what’s least inspiring to you and begin to delegate it to others, it may mean hiring a VA or someone else so you can simplify your life and focus on what’s important to you becoming unstuck and making money along the way.
5) End the cliff edge drama.
You having what you want does not require your entire world, relationships and bank account to go into shut down temporarily, nothing keeps you stuck more than thinking you have to jump of the cliff and leave everything and everyone behind.
Instead commit to taking the next inspired step. That might mean ending a current job, creating a sideline or closing a relationship.
Get clear on what that is for you and what you can do simply and non-dramatically to get you where you want to be today. It’s easier than you think!
