3 Ways To Find Your Ideal Career
‘You will never change your life until you change something you do daily.’ ~Mike Murdock
I’ve wanted to write for ages now.
Sometimes the feeling gets so strong, you know like that urge you get to have sex, but unlike hunger , if you don’t satisfy it then the urge is gone .
Then you feel some sort of “muddiness” in your mind or body, all because you suppressed the urge to act on that one thing you wanted to do.
In the moment there’s that great ability to express and release but most people don’t act in the moment, instead they intellectualise why they want to do something.
Intellectualising is a fancy term for procrastinating, which really means you’re shit scared.
Scared of what will happen if you follow that desire, find that perfect job and ask for that money .
So instead you’ll suppress it all and label whatever your desire is as “bad” or “impossible”.
Then we wonder why we’re eating more, drinking more, spending more or whatever.
As we suppress ourselves overtime we create “blocking” habits and addictions as a simple means to divert us even further from sharing ourselves with the world.
It’s easier to eat, to drink or to stay in some “safe” job than share your vulnerability, expertise, and search for your gifts right?
Yet it’s the sharing of yourself that leads to the riches, comfort and purpose you seek.
“The only difference between the woman in the limo en route to work and the woman downtrodden in the street is that the woman in the limo is sharing herself fully with the world.” Yogi Bhajan
But , like me at times , I know you’ll choose to stuff yourself instead of sharing yourself or desires with the world.
You stuff your day with more to do.
You stuff your body with more chemicals and food.
You stuff your mind with so much useless information, most of which you already know by now anyway.
Ultimately you stuff your ego and starve your spirit, the part of you that’s perfect and ready to share right now, if only you’d value it , listen to its’ urges and trust where it will take you.
3 Ways to get unstuck and find your ideal career.
1) Stop focusing on the money.
When I left my steady day job I focused on “how “ I would make money but that didn’t work , it just threw me into fear and lack especially as I’m the world’s greatest spender and there was no more money coming in for that!
Then I discovered that two main areas were driving me, one was a supposed “gold mine” according to the experts, the other not so much so, but it was the other that I tended to talk about, think about and teach about the most.
This supposed less financially stable area is what has me flying around the globe sometimes earning in a day what it took me 60 days to earn in the past!
So forget the money and consider your top 3 answers for each:
- If you had 3 million in the bank what would you do with your time?
- What do you tend to talk about most?
- Where are you most disciplined?
- What’s the first thing you like to find out about people when meeting them?
What connections do these answers all have ?
Can you see any pattern emerging yet concerning what you love to do?
I’m telling you now there’s a way to create something exciting and EARN from that!
2) Stop bingeing.
Most people I work with come to me because they’re unclear about what they’d love to do and how they could earn easily whilst working less.
As we go through their daily time expenditure it’s evident that a lot of their time is spent bingeing on information as opposed to expressing or sharing what they’ve already learned.
This is no different to being a binge eater, it’s just now you’re a binge onliner or a binge book worm or a binge doer , stuffing yourself with more when really it’s time to purge what you’ve already got within you.
What you’ve LEARNED so far is what you can EARN from today , it’s how you package it up and create a style from it that will determine if you and others are actually inspired by it for the longterm.
Over the next week I encourage you to deprive yourself of online and offline bingeing , in whatever form.
When you feel the urge to binge go to this inventory and work on it instead:
Create an inventory of your experiences across these 5 areas of life:
1)Health 2) Wealth 3)Work 4) Relationships 5) Spiritual
What have you experienced in each area that makes you the expert?
What stories can you share related to victories in each area, find the funny and dramatic ones especially?
Which area holds the most content for you / which area have you empowered the most?
Seek to share as much as possible related to that area or those victories, create a group, start a blog, run a tele seminar, the world needs to hear about it, even if you think it was a “coincidence” or “easy” to do.
You’ll be selling that experience one day soon!
3) Find your most natural Career Style.
Many corporates & entrepreneurs I know are burning themselves out following career styles that are not in line with what drives them.
As a woman in the working world (of men usually) you’re likely in “Leader” mode most of the day but this is detrimental to your health and wealth if in fact your natural style is the “Creator” or the “Nurturer”.
Of course we’re all , all 3 of the styles but the style that is natural to you is where your gold truly resides. Have you found it yet?
